Ruth A. Bultemeyer

September 13, 1936 — September 16, 2020

Ruth A. Bultemeyer, 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away early Wednesday morning, September 16, 2020, at her residence.

She was born on September 13, 1936 in Ossian, Indiana to Rufus and Marie (Witte) Werling. She married Richard L. Bultemeyer on September 30, 1955 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ossian, Indiana and he survives following almost 65 years of marriage!

Ruth was a member of Praise Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne where she was active in the church choir. She also served on the Worship Committee at church and taught Bible Class. In her younger years, she was also a longtime 4-H leader in Adams County while her husband was a teacher and youth director at Zion Lutheran School – Friedheim and then principal at Wyneken Memorial Lutheran School.

Ruth was a 1954 graduate of Ossian High School. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a Mary Kay Sales Consultant for 18 years in addition to Hallmark Stores in Florida for over six years.

Ruth enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, puzzles, gardening and flowers, along with spending time with her family…which often involved card games being played. She was an infectious optimist who would use her communication skills to minister to people that encountered her on a daily basis.

She held a passion for missions…which came in several different forms. She would use her skills at sewing to teach ethnic groups new to Ft. Wayne those skills that would be helpful to them. She faithfully dressed her husband in appropriate attire. She was also blessed with a great sense of humor and comedy. She would use this to brighten situations that others would be facing.

She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Bultemeyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; four daughters, Janna (Thomas) Conway of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Rebecca (Walter) Kikugawa of Glenview, Illinois, Christine (Brett) Jordan of Canal Fulton, Ohio, and Elizabeth (John) Herber of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sons, Jonathan Bultemeyer of Ludwigsburg, Germany and Daniel (Diane) Bultemeyer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sisters, Helene (Robert) Hegerfeld of Hoagland, Indiana and Iverna Burns of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, Anna Dorris, Rachael Conway, Andrew Conway, Caleb Ford-Conway, Leilani Curtis, Kevin Kikugawa, Melia Bennett, Kaila Kikugawa, Mikayla Jordan, Nathaniel Jordan, Eric Bultemeyer, Kelli Bultemeyer, Courtney Carlson, Joshua Bultemeyer, Lauren Herber, and Zachary Herber and 17 great-grandchildren, Tatum Coots, Ethan Coots, Gavin Yates, Aubrey Yates, Kelsey Riggio, Vincent Riggio, Corrin Ford-Conway, Selah Curtis, Talitha Curtis, Aletheia Curtis, Maccabee Curtis, Myla Morrison, Kaden Kikugawa, Evelyn Kikugawa, Jack Bennett, Wyatt Bennett, and Caleb Dawson Jordan.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Henderson and a brother, Wilmer Werling.
